MIFFLINBURG — A 36-year-old Atlas man accused of making a threatening statement toward the Mount Carmel Area High School in August is now facing misdemeanors of terroristic threats and harassment for allegedly threatening the family of former President Judge Robert Sacavage.
Officer Michele Marr, of Mifflinburg Police Department, filed those charges against Benjamen D. Gerrity, of 211 E. Saylor St., in the office of Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey Mensch, Mifflinburg, on March 2.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Santina Sacavage reported that over the past few years Gerrity, a former acquaintance in high school, made threats against herself, her uncle and father. She was unsure why her family has been targeted or if it was due to her father being a retired judge.
The victim informed the officer that she received a Facebook message from Gerrity at 5:58 a.m. Feb. 22 in which he stated, “Watch the news lately? I tried telling you.” She then received a phone call through Facebook messenger during which a male, alleged to be Gerrity, threatened to kill her and her family.
A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for 11 a.m. March 28.
In September, Gerrity waived to court a misdemeanor of terroristic threats, filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Patrick McAndrew, for allegedly telling law enforcement on Aug. 11 that voices told him to get a gun and go to the Mount Carmel Area High School to “make a spectacle” so Officer Kelly Campbell would shoot him.
Gerrity told law enforcement that the voices he hears are a result of the Chinese implanting a device in his head, but would never act on the voices in his head, but that he doesn’t trust Mount Carmel Township police, the affidavit states.
