WILLIAMSPORT — Despite injuries suffered to both Michael Warren and Reed Wagner during Friday’s game at Williamsport, Mifflinburg American Legion manager Shawn Cooper had some capable replacements that helped produce a 14-4, five-inning victory in Susquehanna Valley American Legion League West Branch action.

Warren started the game on the mound for Post 410 (8-1), before he left in the second and was replaced by Denzel Sampsell. Eric Zimmerman entered in the fourth and finished the game out for Mifflinburg.

“I had to throw both Sampsell and Zimmerman (Friday). We have two games coming up (today and Sunday), but we’ll figure something out,” said Mifflinburg manager Shawn Cooper.

Offensively, however, Mifflinburg tallied 10 runs in the first inning to score all the runs the team needed. Garrett Becker hit a two-run double and Mason Cooper had an RBI single to key the first for Post 410.

Mifflinburg next plays at Montoursville this morning at 11 a.m., and then on Sunday Post 410 plays at Jersey Shore at 1 p.m.
