Little League baseball and softball District 13 tournaments get underway around the area this weekend and several local teams will be more than willing participants in this year’s postseason action on the diamond.
In the Major Softball division, Mifflinburg will take on Danville this Sunday at 2 p.m. at Echo Field in Danville. Last year, Mifflinburg advanced to the tournament’s championship game where they fell to Central Columbia 13-0 in four innings.
Mifflinburg will play Snyder County in the opening game of the District 24 Minor Baseball division tournament at Washies Field in Danville on Sunday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. In 2018, Mifflinburg fell in a hard-fought championship game to Danville, 2-1.
In District 13’s Junior Softball division, Milton will open the tournament against Berwick at Echo Field on Friday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. The winner of that contest will face Lewisburg on Sunday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the same site.
The 8-9-10 (Minor) Division gets underway on Saturday, June 29 at Danville’s Echo Field when Warrior Run takes on Danville at 11 a.m. The winner advances to play Mifflinburg on July 1 at 5:30 p.m.
Mifflinburg took the District 13 title in 2018 with a 5-1 victory over Shik/Acorn to advance to the PA Section 3 Tournament in Minersville.
In the Major Baseball division tournament of District 13, Mifflinburg and Lewisburg will face off on in the first round at Selinsgrove’s East Snyder Park on Saturday, June 22 at noon. The winner of that game will face Warrior Run at the same site on Tuesday, June 25 at 5:30 p.m. Last season, Snyder County captured the title with a 2-1 victory over Juniata in the championship.
The 9-11 Baseball tournament in District 15 will feature Milton and Mifflinburg squaring off in the first round at Laurelton’s Field of Dreams on Sunday, June 23 at 2:30 p.m.
The District 12 Junior Baseball division tourney will begin on June 29 with Mifflinburg and Milton set to battle in the first round at Recreation Park in New Berlin with the first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. Mifflinburg will enter this year’s tournament looking to avenge its 7-4 loss to Juniata in the title game a year ago.
