WILLIAMSPORT — Chris Eiswerth’s return to Loyalsock wasn’t the happy homecoming he was hoping for. The former offensive coordinator for the Lancers brought his young Warrior Run squad to Kenneth Robbins Stadium Friday night and saw his team’s losing skid grow to six games with a 42-7 loss.
SELINSGROVE — It must be payback week in Milton.
The Black Panthers had only lost to Montoursville and Selinsgrove in the Heartland Conference-I. On Thursday they avenged both those losses by beating the Seals 2-1 at home. Milton had beaten the Warriors Tuesday night in Montoursville.
LEWISBURG — When you chase, you tire. Teams that play the Lewisburg girls soccer team usually end up chasing — chasing Kalyn Fisher, chasing Allysia Ketchem, chasing Jenny Byerly, chasing Meghan Valentine, chasing, chasing, chasing.
SUNBURY — Too often on Thursday, Lewisburg heard the thud of the ball hitting the pads of Shikellamy keeper Kami Heim.
The Green Dragons never did hear the whack of the ball hitting the cage.

MONTOURSVILLE — Travis Shively’s goal with 10 minutes left in the first half was the game-winner as the Wildcats downed the Warriors in Heartland Conference-I action at Montoursville.
Editor’s note: Mansfield University freshman Tony Fannick will be featured in the weeks to come as he adjusts to life as a Division II student-athlete. Fannick, a standout two-sport athlete at Milton High, earned a scholarship to play basketball and baseball at Mansfield University.

DANVILLE — The Lewisburg girls cross country team continued its domination of the Heartland Conference and Sophia Ziemian added another record to her growing list of accollades Tuesday at a quad Danville cross country course on Tuesday.
MONTOURSVILLE — Tuesday’s night game between Milton and Montoursville should have been a game that pitted possession against direct soccer, but anyone hoping to see that contest would have been sorely disappointed.
LEWISBURG — A day after holding the mighty Selinsgrove Seals to just one goal in a heartbreaking loss, it looked like Lewisburg might have been a little mentally and physically drained when it took the field against Milton for Tuesday’s Heartland Conference-I matchup at the Pawling Complex.
MIFFLINBURG — The Mifflinburg boys soccer team continued its string of history-making matches on Monday when it beat Milton 1-0 in Heartland Conference-I action at the intermediate school.
LEWISBURG — When Lewisburg scored a 1-0 victory at Selinsgrove on Sept. 16 it meant the current crop of Selinsgrove seniors would have but one more chance to earn a victory over the Green Dragons.
The Lewisburg girls cross country team is sitting atop the Class AA rankings on the PennTrackxc Web site for the second week in a row. Since the coaches’ poll takes into account the difficulty of various courses as well as season-best performances it’s looking like the Green Dragons will be there awhile.
The fun and challenge of competing in sports doesn’t have to stop with high school or even college graduation. As two area senior Olympians recently demonstrated, it doesn’t even have to stop after retirement.
It seems as if all of a sudden, a big lid was lifted in Lewisburg and everyone sees the promise within the Green Dragons’ football program. Well, all we want to know is where have you been?
We saw a local television personality state during a recent airing, “Who would’ve thunk it?” when discussing Lewisburg’s undefeated season thus far and plenty of other media outlets are suddenly paying plenty of attention to the Green Dragons’ grid program.

MUNCY — Kristi Weaver and Justine Snyder each scored two goals and Adrienne Cameron scored the game winner early in the first half as Milton downed Muncy in a Heartland Conference crossover matchup Saturday at Muncy.
LEWISBURG — Playing in front of a big homecoming crowd at Bucknell’s Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, the Lewisburg football team gave its fans plenty of big plays to cheer Friday en route to a 24-7 Heartland Conference crossover victory over Central Columbia.
The win sends Lewisburg (Heartland Conference-III) to 6-0 on the season while Central Columbia (Heartland Conference-II) fell to 3-3.
JERSEY SHORE — They’re called growing pains for a reason — they hurt.
Mifflinburg had another night full of them on Friday losing to Jersey Shore 31-10 in a Heartland Conference-I matchup at Shore.
TURBOTVILLE — Talk about sharing the wealth. Muncy got touchdowns from five different players in the first half Friday as the Indians ruined Warrior Run’s homecoming with a 42-13 rout at Defender Stadium.
