Donald F. Sherman Sr., 96, of 468 Brouse Road, Montgomery, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in the Williamsport Hospital.    
Born Oct. 10, 1911, in Dewart, he was a son of the late Floyd and Myrtle (Hayes) Sherman.        
He and his wife of 72 years, the former Rebecca Elizabeth DeWald, were married Oct. 19, 1935.    
Mr. Sherman graduated from the former Montgomery-Clinton High School with the Class of 1929.
Mr. Sherman was a lifelong farmer, first farming in the Elimsport area, then along Route 405 in Montgomery and later at his farm on Brouse Road. He also worked as a watchman at the former Montgomery Mills and Grumman plants and served as an advisor for Sherman Beef Cattle.   
He was a member of St. John Lutheran (Brick) Church, Montgomery.
Mr. Sherman had served as a Clinton Township supervisor, as a committeeman for the Farm Service Agency and he was a former member of the Eagle Grange.    
He enjoyed playing the fiddle at area square dances, playing the banjo and ukulele and planting and growing flowers.
 In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Liz Heilman of Muncy, Kay and Fred McCarty of Watsontown, Gail and Gary Kinney of Trail Creek, Ind., and Kathy and Herm Swartz of Milton; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Jr. and Connie Sherman of Muncy; 13 grandchildren, Peggy Batt, Debbie Bierly, John Heilman, David McCarty, Louella Rupert, Gary Kinney Jr., Robert Kinney, Scott Kinney, Michael Sherman, Melissa Ural, Colleen Swartz, Clinton Swartz and Beth Swartz; and 16 great-grandchildren.    
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Ann Young; a grandson, Charles Donald Swartz; a great-great-grandson, Nickolas James Beaver; two brothers, Arthur Sherman and David Sherman; and four sisters, Martha Burrows, Mildred Graeff, Helen Wertman and Eleanor Mauck.    
Visitors may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with his minister, Pastor Zachary Labagh, officiating.
Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. 
The family welcomes flowers, however memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran (Brick) Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, Pa. 17752.
