HORSEHEADS, N.Y. — Kenneth Samuel Brouse Sr., 74, of 213 North St., Horseheads, N.Y., and formerly of Hollidaysburg, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca.
Born Sept. 14, 1933, in Lewisburg, he was a son of the late Wesley and Caroline (Shannon) Brouse.
His wife of 37 years, the former Barbara Lockwood, died in 1988. He and his current wife, the former Bernita Ingersoll, were married in 1991.
Mr. Brouse graduated from Lewisburg High School with the Class of 1951. He earned an engineering degree from Bucknell University in 1955. He received a master’s degree in vocational education from Penn State University in 1974.
He worked for Sylvania in Altoona, where he became a member of the Quarter Century Club. He later went to work for Phillips in Seneca Falls, N.Y. He retired in 2004 from an electrical engineering position with Toshiba Westinghouse, Elmira, N.Y.
Mr. Brouse was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Geneva, N.Y.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and the Philadelphia Phillies.
In addition to his second wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth S. II and Linda Brouse of Bedford and Steven R. Brouse of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Katherine L. and Michael Ford of Hollidaysburg and Elizabeth A. Winnek of Geneva; a stepdaughter, Janice Malphrus of Horseheads; a brother, Marlyn Brouse of Lewisburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Richard Mabus Sr. of Lewisburg; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Brouse, who died April 28; and a stepdaughter, Kathy Ball Raker, who died in 1993.
Visitors may call from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday in St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Joseph Lingenfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
