LEWISBURG — Melvin D. “Sam” Shuck, 97, a resident of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, since May 12, and formerly of Rhodesmere and Pennsylvania Street, Lewisburg, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, in the nursing home.
Born Oct. 24, 1910, in Mazeppa, he was a son of the late Warren and Stella (Delcamp) Shuck.
He and his wife, the former Irene Voneida, were married June 22, 1935. She died Jan. 18, 2000.
Mr. Shuck was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. 
He worked as a sprayer at the former Philco Zenith, Watsontown, for 30 years until his retirement.
Mr. Shuck was a member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.
He was a member of the Union County Sportsmen’s Club.
Mr. Shuck enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and hunting. 
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Robert W. Myers of Lewisburg; and numerous nieces and nephews, including William H. Paige of Lewisburg.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara E. Myers and Grace Lloyd; and two brothers, Lloyd and James Shuck.
Visitors may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. William S. Henderson, officiating. 
Burial will follow in Mazeppa Cemetery.
