YORK — Dorothy M. Hoover, 93, of York, and formerly of Allenwood, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in Manor Care, Dallastown.
Born Dec. 23, 1914, in Rush, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Clara (Snyder) and George Beaver.
Her husband, Andrew Hoover, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hoover had worked as a seamstress at Fox Knapp, Milton.
She enjoyed puzzles, bingo and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Hoover is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Franklin and Patricia Hoover of Augusta, Ga., and Ronald Hoover of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Teri Leppo of Dallastown, Kathi Facciani of Dayton, Tenn., Julie Landis of Augusta, Tricia Sokey of Augusta and Ricamer Hoover of Tampa, Fla.; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sharlene Hoover; two sisters, Florence Treibley and Miriam Dyer; and two brothers, John and Allen Beaver.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John’s UCC, McEwensville, with pastor Amelia Shivers officiating. Burial will be in McEwensville Cemetery, McEwensville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3417-C Concord Road, York, Pa. 17402, or to Elmcroft Assisted Living, Lewisburg.
Arrangements are under the care of the John H. Danner Funeral Home, York.
