CARLISLE — Hilda V. Gundrum, 97, of Carlisle, formerly of Milton, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Carlisle Regional Hospital.
Born in Potts Grove on May 17, 1922, a daughter of Franklin Thomas and Esther (Stanton) Hilkert. She was married to Harry Edward Gundrum Jr. until his death in 1982.
In her younger years, she enjoyed riding motorcycles and boating with her husband and taking bus trips. To those closest to her she was known as mom, Nanny, NeeNee, and Queen to one of her great-grandsons. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, especially beef potpie, salad, cinnamon buns and her famous iced tea.
Hilda is survived by thee children Harry E. Gundrum III and his wife Carol of Milton, Susan (Gundrum) Batdorf of Carlisle, and Linda (Gundrum) Brown and her husband Richard of Milton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Larry W. Gundrum in 1987; grandchildren Sherry Ann Gundrum in 1964, Jeffrey C. Batdorf in 1989 and Harry E. Gundrum IV in 1993; and a great-grandson Bradley Allen Batdorf in 1993.
Friends and relatives will be received on Saturday, July 27, 2019, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton. Funeral services will begin at noon with Pastor Mark Messner officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
