MECHANICSBURG — Dale Brice Mummey passed away on June 4, 2019, at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg. Born in Milton, Pa., on Feb. 27, 1935, he was the son of the late Walter G. and Rhoda (Wynn) Mummey.
He was a 1953 graduate of Milton High School. He began working as a draftsman at ACF in Milton in 1954. He joined the Army in 1958 and was assigned to the Army Band, where he played first chair alto saxophone at Fort McPherson and Fort Bragg. He also played in a steel drum band.
After discharge from the Army in 1960, he returned to work in research and development at ACF until 1962, when he moved to Camp Hill and started employment with AMP, Inc. Dale took advantage of in-house educational courses as well as correspondence courses, and rose to the position of senior engineer. He retired from AMP in 1997. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill.
Dale is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. Woodward, Mechanicsburg; daughter, Janet E. Fogg, Harrisburg; son, Craig A. Mummey, Elkridge, Md.; two granddaughters, Sarah E. and Julia A. Fogg, Harrisburg; stepdaughters, Diana J. Lockwood, West Jefferson, Ohio, and Evelyn K. L. Greene, Honolulu, Hawaii; and two stepgrandchildren, Kathryn A. and Charles L. Stevens, West Jefferson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, PA 17011. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, Messiah at Messiah Village, or Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.
