MILTON — Hazel E. Bailey Jefferson, 102, formerly of Milton, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at RiverWoods in Lewisburg.
Born Nov. 6, 1916, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Abigail (Boob) Showver. She was married to Robert C. Bailey until his passing in 1966 and then was married to Leroy Jefferson until his passing in 1998.
Hazel was a 1935 graduate of Lewisburg High School and along with her husband ran Bailey’s Print Shop in Milton and continued to run it after his death. Later she worked for Gauger Men’s Clothing in Milton.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Milton and she attended the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene. Hazel was a faithful Christian and she read her devotionals and prayed daily. She liked to crochet, cook and keep a garden.
Hazel enjoyed traveling. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son, Robert Bailey and wife Janice of Milton; a sister, Helen Fair Sauers and husband Ernest of Mifflinburg; three grandchildren, Brenda Edinger, Pamela Bailey, and Brad Bailey; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Showver; and three sisters, Alice Frederick, Martha Mertz, and Mabel Zerby.
There will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, with the Rev. Dr. Steve Shirk officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery
