MIFFLINBURG — Vonada A. “Junior” Ranck, 92, of New Columbia, died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

Born Sept. 8, 1926, in New Columbia, he was  a son of the late Vonada and Idella (Adams) Ranck. On May 26, 1951  in Ravensburg, he married the former Mary Elizabeth Webb, who preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2003. 

Mr. Ranck was a US Navy veteran having served during the Second World War from Sept. 15, 1944 until his honorable discharge on June 20, 1946.

He worked as a welder for Shippers Car Line, a division of ACF, Milton. He also worked as a gunsmith from his home.

He was a member of New Columbia God’s Missionary Church. 

Surviving are one son, Vonada “Bud” Webb Ranck of Watsontown; one daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Lance Pardoe of New Columbia; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a half brother, John Ranck of White Deer. 

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Ranck, Norman Ranck, Jack Ranck and Jay Ranck. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the New Columbia God’s Missionary Church, 852 Ridge Road, New Columbia, with the Rev. Brian Spangler officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the White Deer Baptist Church Cemetery, Allenwood.
