LEWISBURG — A Milton man who alleges he was sexually abused as a youth by Jack Harclerode testified against the former Bucknell University professor during a preliminary hearing Thursday afternoon in the Union County courthouse.
According to reports, the unidentified 28-year-old said he was abused by Harclerode three years in the 1990s in an office at Bucknell University.
Defense attorney Peter Campana questioned the man about his motives for coming forward now with the allegations.
The man said he decided to press charges after learning of   similar counts brought against Harclerode by a 10-year-old boy in Columbia County court last year.
According to reports, the man also stated he had no contact with Harclerode from 1995 until last year when he called the former professor to inquire about buying a rifle.
Campana then asked District Judge Leo Armbruster to dismiss the six counts of felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse Harclerode faces in the case. Campana reportedly cited a lack of evidence showing the charges were filed within the statute of limitation.
Union County District Attorney D. Peter Johnson countered that a 2002 state law allows victims of sexual deviate intercourse to file charges within 12 years of their 18th birthday.
Armbruster gave Campana and Johnson five days to file written briefs on the law before he rules on the case, according to reports.
