Mifflinburg, Pa. -

Volunteer firefighters weathered a heavy rain storm to douse a fire which broke out around 9 p.m. Tuesday in a home along Buffalo Road, West Buffalo Township.
Initial emergency services radio communications indicated an 11-year-old may have been trapped inside the burning home. However, later radio traffic indicated firefighters found the home vacant when they arrived on scene.
The home was reportedly engulfed in flames when the first firefighters arrived, however they were able to quickly douse the blaze despite the adverse weather conditions. Emergency crews remained on scene for over an hour.
Firefighters from Mifflinburg, New Berlin, Lewisburg and White Deer Township responded to the blaze.
Standard Journal will publish more details on the fire in its print edition when they become available.
