Soroptimist member receives award

The Soroptimist International Club of Snyder, Union and Northumberland counties recently awarded Heather Britton the club’s 2019 Unsung Hero Award for working tirelessly, while never seeking recognition. Britton, a model volunteer, serves as chair of the Dream It, Be It committee, which organizes a career exploration conference for high school girls. She also volunteers with Transforming Treasures, a fundraising program. Presenting the award is President-Elect Rose Weir. Soroptimist International is a global volunteer network of women in 130 countries and territories with a mission of improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. The local SUN Soroptimist Club meets the first Wednesday of each month within the three-county area. Any person who is interested in volunteering and becoming a member to contact any club member or by calling Diane Savidge at 570-837- 2532 or dmsavidge@gmail.com.
