MONTOURSVILLE — A stingy defense propelled the Lewisburg girls basketball team to its first district title since 2007 and first ever title in the Class AAA ranks.

The No. 5-seeded Dragons (15-10) topped the second-seeded girls from Athens, 38-33, Saturday at Montoursville and moved on to the PIAA Class AAA Tournament, which begins Saturday for Lewisburg against Scranton Prep, the third-place team from District 2.
