Students learn about, contribute to Honduran Soles

The Montgomery Area School District History Club recently partnered with the Honduran Soles organization from Lewisburg. The club’s task was to put boxes in participating teacher’s rooms and have the teachers talk about the Honduran Soles organization and what it does. The club’s advisors, Jesse Newcomer, a social studies teacher, and Nathan Crawford, a student teacher in Montgomery, told the teachers that Honduran Soles collect shoes here in Central Pa. to be donated across the world, specifically to third-world countries. The goal started at 75 pairs, which was achieved within the first two weeks. The club decided to make it 100 pairs and actually ended up with 125 pairs of shoes. The club started this year at Montgomery Area School District and has well over 60 members already.
